Pilonidal Excision,No packing,Left open to heal,6 months & still not closed up!?

So basically to sum it all up i'm freaking out! lol Im only 22,I had the excision done January 3 2011 and its now June 17 2011! it's healed up some,but it still has quite a ways to go,but 6 months this is getting ridiculous,i want my surgeon to close it up but he wont! It's summer time,which makes it even more uncomfortable for me :/ not to mention i cant go swimming,cant go to amusement parks & i feel like i can't do anything because of it,i'd like to go running & work out but im afraid i might tear the newly healed skin .... also i've gained 20/25 pounds since i had the surgery which is unnacceptable,the first 3 months i was in the utmost pain & could barely move,any thoughts on how much longer it might be before it completley heals? or if my doctor could actually close it up for me when i ask him? any stories from experience? any information is very much appreciated!
